欧米では半世紀以上前からSFやファンタジーのファンがプロの作家と交流するSFコンベンションが開催されてきましたが、近年ではSFドラマに特化してファンと出演者が交流するコンベンションが開かれています。"Comic Con"のようにカバー範囲も広く大規模なものから、特定の番組に特化した小規模なものまでさまざまで、コンベンションの企画・運営を行う会社もあります。

『トーチウッド』のコンベンション"THE HUB"は2008年10月から2010年4月までに4回開催され、2010年10月には5回目の開催が予定されています。
